How to Build a High-Converting Cleaning Company Website
What makes cleaning company websites turn visitors into bookings: quote forms, trust signals, pricing, area pages and mobile speed, explained plainly.
A high-converting cleaning company website loads quickly on a phone, shows exactly what you offer and where you work, proves you can be trusted in someone’s home or workplace, and makes getting a price take under a minute. Most cleaning websites lose enquiries not because of poor design but because the visitor cannot quickly answer three questions: do you cover my area, roughly what will it cost, and can I trust you? This guide covers how to answer all three.
Domestic and commercial visitors want different things
A homeowner looking for a regular clean and an office manager looking for a contract cleaner arrive with very different worries. If your site speaks to both in the same breath, it speaks well to neither.
Domestic customers are letting someone into their home. They care about trust, flexibility and a simple price. They often search on their phone, in the evening, and want to send an enquiry without a lengthy conversation.
Commercial customers are buying reliability. They want to know about insurance, staffing, supervision, out-of-hours working and what happens when a cleaner is off sick. They are more likely to want a site visit and a written quote than an instant figure.
The practical fix is separate pages and separate calls to action. A domestic page can lead with “Get a quick quote” and a short form. A commercial page can lead with “Book a free site visit” and talk about contracts, schedules and cover. Both can sit under the same brand, but the visitor should reach the right one in a single click from the homepage.
Build the quote form around what you need to price
The form is where most visitors either become leads or leave. Every extra field costs you some completions, so each question has to earn its place.
For a domestic clean, a sensible set of fields is:
- Type of service (regular clean, deep clean, end of tenancy, oven clean)
- Postcode
- Number of bedrooms and bathrooms
- How often (one-off, weekly, fortnightly)
- Name and mobile number, with email optional
For commercial work, swap property size for approximate floor area or type of premises, and add preferred cleaning times. Leave anything else, such as access arrangements or specific products, for the call.
Some practical points that matter more than people expect:
- Put the form near the top of the page on mobile, not buried under three screens of text.
- Use large tap-friendly fields and the right keyboard type for phone and postcode.
- Tell people what happens next, for example “We reply within a working day with a price” (only say what you can really deliver).
- Offer a email or call button beside the form for people who would rather not type.
Whether the quote is genuinely instant or a prompt reply is up to you. A calculator that returns a price works for standardised services like regular domestic cleans. For anything variable, a fast personal reply beats an automated figure that turns out to be wrong.
Trust signals do more work than slogans
Cleaners are trusted with keys, alarm codes and unattended access. Trust is not decoration on a cleaning site; it is the product. The important signals are specific and verifiable.
- Insurance. State that you carry public liability insurance and, if you employ staff, employers’ liability. Show the cover level only if you are comfortable doing so.
- DBS checks. If your cleaners are DBS checked, say so plainly and say who is checked. Do not claim it if it is not true for every person who enters a customer’s home.
- Guarantees. A re-clean promise, such as “If something is missed, tell us within 24 hours and we will put it right”, is worth far more than “100% satisfaction” with no detail. Only offer terms you will honour.
- Real reviews. Pull in genuine Google reviews with the reviewer’s first name and the service they used. Never invent or paraphrase testimonials.
- Real people. A photo of you or your team, with first names and how long you have been cleaning, does more than any stock image of a smiling cleaner.
- Accreditations. Mention memberships or training only if you actually hold them.
Place these near the quote form and on the service pages, not just on an “About” page nobody reads.
Be transparent about pricing
Many cleaning companies hide prices because every job differs. That is understandable, but a blank where the price should be makes visitors assume the worst or call a competitor who will tell them.
You do not need a full price list. Useful alternatives include:
- “Regular cleans from £X per hour” or “from £X per visit” for standard properties
- Example price ranges by property size, clearly labelled as a guide
- A short explanation of what affects the price, such as property size, condition, frequency and extras
- A note on minimum visit times if you have them
Guide pricing filters out enquiries that were never going to work and makes the genuine ones warmer. It also gives your quote form context, so people arrive having already accepted the ballpark.
Create service area pages that are actually local
If you want to be found for “cleaners in [town]”, you need a page that is genuinely about that town. A cleaning-focused SEO setup usually starts with this.
A good area page includes the postcodes and neighbourhoods you cover, the services available there, any local detail you can honestly offer (types of property, student lets, commuter areas, local businesses you clean for), and a direct enquiry form or button. A page that repeats the same paragraph with a different place name added is thin content, and it does not help visitors either.
Only create pages for areas you actually serve. Ten solid pages beat fifty copies.
Mobile speed is not optional
Most people looking for a cleaner will do it on a phone, often on mobile data. A heavy page with oversized photos, sliders and multiple tracking scripts will frustrate them before they see your form.
What to check:
- Images resized and compressed before upload, not scaled down by the browser
- Few fonts and no unnecessary plugins
- A fast host and sensible caching
- Buttons and phone numbers that work with one tap
- No popups that cover the screen on a small display
This is largely a build quality issue. A well-built WordPress site can be quick; a bloated theme loaded with page builders and add-ons usually is not. If you are weighing a template tool against a proper build, our post on roofing website builders versus custom sites covers the same trade-offs, and they apply equally to cleaning.
Connect booking and scheduling carefully
Booking integrations can help or hurt. They help when your services are standardised and you want customers to pick a slot without waiting for a reply. They hurt when they promise availability you cannot meet or force a long sign-up before showing a price.
Consider:
- Simple form plus fast reply for most small cleaning firms
- Online booking widgets for regular domestic cleans with fixed durations
- Calendar links for commercial site visits
- Payment on booking only if your service and cancellation terms are straightforward
Whatever you choose, make sure bookings and enquiries reach you instantly, by email and ideally by phone notification, and that someone is responsible for replying.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Long forms that ask for a full property description before giving any price
- Stock photos of cleaners that look nothing like your team
- No mention of insurance or checks anywhere on the site
- A single “Services” page that tries to cover domestic, commercial, end-of-tenancy and specialist work
- No service areas listed, so visitors have to guess whether you cover them
- A phone number that is not clickable on mobile
- Reviews that are old, generic or clearly written by the owner
- Slow pages caused by oversized images and heavy themes
Next steps
If your site gets visitors but few enquiries, the cause is usually one or two of the points above rather than a total rebuild. We can review your current site and tell you honestly what is holding it back. Take a look at our cleaning website design service, then request a free website audit or email us at [email protected]. Most projects take two to four weeks from start to launch.
